AGA title race steps up a gear at sunny Didmarton - best 5 results count so plenty still to play for

The clouds parted and we were greeted by some beautiful early spring sunshine upon our arrival at Didmarton on Saturday. A stiff breeze ensured the AGA flags were standing to attention, and it also sent me scurrying back to the car for my Barbour.
Jane and a throng of AGA admirers
Believe it or not we are discussing plans for the final!
The first task of the day was to persuade Robert Waley-Cohen to have his photograph taken by the AGA, he readily agreed and suggested that his son Sam join us as well ... however, it's top secret so I can't publish it yet!

Guess who's got a new tie?
The guest for the day was AGA brand ambassador James McIntosh who was having his first taste of Point-to-Point, and I'm pleased to report that as he's a country boy at heart (brought up on a farm), he thoroughly enjoyed it.

Riders' Championship
Eight lined up for our race, including the first AGA winner of the season, Zanzibar Boy, and a very short priced favourite, Picaroon, who was bidding to give the Smith-Maxwells a repeat win in this race.
Lagosta
Tizzy Blue
Bold Punt
We had a very easy winner, Picaroon, who managed to get round in quite a smart time as well, could this be the horse that Alex takes to Cheltenham for our final? Check out Beazo's interview at the top right of this page and you might just find out!

Well done Mrs Dunn
Another thirsty lad
Tom Dunn tells me how he would have done it ... don't tell Alex!
We had the most crowded podium of the season so far for the post race presentation and it was a real family affair ... I also expect there will be a lengthy discussion about who gets to keep the latest addition to the Smith-Maxwell prize collection.
If I manage to get the clock out of the box we'll get on with this!
I don't know what we're laughing at but it must have been funny!
James gets to hold the little one (well it is his first time)
And I get to hold the fleece!
Eyes front and smile
We then dashed back to the van for Beazo's latest interview and also managed to persuade Lucy Tucker that it would be a fabulous idea to have her photograph taken with us by the van.

With the racing nearly done and the camera almost exhausted it was time to visit the hospitality tent for a cup of tea and a cake. Young Mr AGA Pointing (my son Bradley), now relieved of his camera duties was already in there working his way through an impressive selection of goodies with his girlfriend Beth.
Bradley and Beth, note they are both wearing my caps ... this explains
the appearance of my ridiculous trilby towards the end of the afternoon!
It's been a long day!
The beer tent was as popular as ever
A contender for best turned out?
